The program was conducted as a part of the 2012’s National Action Programs of Food and Snack Safety for School Children, which is intended to provide socialization, education, creativity development, and awareness improvement for all school children about the importance of hygiene and safety of snacks available around their environment. Just the day before, a joint meeting was held between school committees, teachers, canteen administrators, and some other relevant institutions in order to establish a common understanding in developing schools’ independence in fostering an active awareness among schoolers to keep the quality and safety of their school snacks. In so doing, a series of information was presented under the titles “The Role of School Community in Guaranteeing Food Safety”; “Food Safety in School Canteen”; and “Certificate of Food Safety for School Canteen”.
On the same occasion, Five Keys to Food Safety for School Children was also presented to students for them to be practiced in their daily life. In addition, the Agency’s website klubpompi.pom.go.id was introduced and simulated. By means of attractive and interesting menus of e-learning and e-notification about food safety, the website was launched to develop students’ knowledge and creativity and improve their awareness and care about the importance of food and snacks safety.
This whole program of directives socialization of food safety can hopefully develop a strong awareness and independence in every schooler to achieve nutritious and hygienic quality food and snack which are safe to consume.
